New Book Released!

Life has been a wild ride the last year! I didn’t feel well enough to fast or observe Lent at all. I did, however, put together a little book of poetry. I can’t help but write, it just sort of happens.

I am reminded how God works within us even when we are unaware. It turns out my little book was about death and resurrection, honouring the suffering of exile we experience in this life. I participated in the Lenten spirit without meaning to. God worked through me despite my current indifference to the church calendar, or perhaps precisely within that indifference.

It feels very fitting to share my booklet Blessed Fall with the world at this holy time. The title comes from the Easter Proclamation “O happy fault (blessed fall) that earned for us so great, so glorious a Redeemer.” Here is what I wrote for the back cover:

Inspired by his own dark night of the soul, the author shares his reflections on Christian mysticism, the path of death and resurrection, and growth in virtue through suffering. This book is a gift to anyone who feels stuck in darkness but is searching for the light.

A series of original poems, interspersed with passages from scripture, provides an experience as much a form of meditation as it is a work of theological reflection. Drawing from ancient sources often forgotten in the west, this booklet explores symbolic interpretations of the Eden story and Jesus as a wisdom teacher. Ideal for beginners and seasoned contemplatives alike.

Concluding with a short collection of contemplative chants, this book will be of interest to spiritual practitioners and leaders of sacred music as well.
