Interconnected Worlds: Indigenous Wisdom, Learning From the Land, and the Power of Love

What unites us? Everything is interconnected, love is all there is.

In this video, Christi Belcourt and Justin Coutts have a wide ranging conversation, drawing from their many commonalities and differences. We discussed:

  • Indigenous worldviews, language and traditions.
  • Language’s interconnectedness to nature and the universal consciousness of prayer beyond language or words.
  • Shame, traditional teachings, and earth based spirituality vs organized religion.
  • Reconnecting to the earth by grounding ourselves and protecting Mother Earth.
  • Friendship, kinship and the community of being alive.
  • The commonalities between myths, legends and stories.
  • The violence of supremacy and hierarchal systems vs spiritual mysteries.
  • Deconstructing the harm of established systemic rigidity.
  • Hard truths Christians need to hear.

Our contemplative formation group is currently exploring the writing of Aelred of Rievaulx, a Celtic inspired Cistercian father who lived on both sides of the Scottish/English border around the same time period as Hildegard.

I’ve really enjoyed the few sessions we’ve had so far. I’m looking forward to connecting with more of you as time goes by!
