As many of you will remember, at the end of last year I entered into an exchange of essays with my friend Jesse Hake. We debated, discussed, and grew in our understanding of a very complex theological topic – the fall from Eden. Life got in the way, and I dropped the ball in responding to Jesse for a few months, so we met up on zoom a little while back to keep the conversation going.
The first 40 minutes we talked a little about our spiritual backgrounds and experiences. All of us have been formed by traditions outside of Christianity which made this part of the conversation very fruitful. If you are primarily interested in the atemporal fall itself, you may want to skip ahead. In the rest of the video we talk about whether or not creation is the way God intended it to be, the nature of time, the origin of suffering, and the creative expression of the infinitude of God.
